When Clemson started the season it was Cole Stoudt that would be leading the Tigers to hopefully another BCS Bowl victory. But as this season is unfolding maybe it's the raw talented freshman Deshaun Watson who is the natural heir apparent to Tajh Boyd.
Though Cole Stoudt is a solid quarterback the young Watson is a more dynamic player. What has to be taken into consideration is the division of the team in who they feel should be the starter. Coach Dabo Swinney has his hands full with this decision as the Tigers really need to buckle up and make a run to salvage the season.
It would be hard for me to go back to Cole Stoudt as the starter after Deshaun Watson's performance in Doak Campbell Stadium in front of that type of crowd. But at the same time I feel that Stoudt is a good leader that has had command of the team.
The Clemson Tiger should still be kicking themselves -- it’s three days after they botched the game that would have changed their season, in a 23 – 17 overtime loss to the Florida State Seminoles.
The Seminoles basically served up the game on a platter and the Tigers refused to eat. With the boob of the franchise Jameis Winston on the bench in street clothes after trying to do a psych job on the Tigers and Jimbo Fisher, by dressing in full gear and trying to participate in pre-game warm-ups – again another distraction by the no longer in back to back Heisman contention Winston.
The Tigers started an ineffective Cole Stoudt at quarterback who missed a sure TD pass opportunity when he threw the ball at the receiver’s feet. Clemson missed the field goal. Coach Dabo Swinney replaced Stoudt after the first quarter for freshman Deshaun Watson which looked like a brilliant decision as the younger moved the Tigers up and down the field. But In the third quarter, Clemson had first-and-goal on the 1. A bad snap sailed over Watson’s head on second down. Clemson ended up missing another field goal.
With two minutes on the clock backup quarterback Sean Maguire threw what seemed to be a self-inflicted spear wound that would seal the Seminoles fate with an interception to Clemson safety Jadar Johnson deep inside Florida State territory. A fumble by Clemson and a questionable overtime decision by Tigers coach Dabo Swinney helped the Seminoles avert the upset.
This was a great college football game but the Tigers have to be sick after losing that way. Clemson will need to run the table the rest of the way for this to be considered a solid season. One thing for sure is Deshaun Watson is for real and he’s ready to be the starter.
Clemson head coach goes quickly to frosh quarterback Deshaun Watson after Cole Stoudt was ineffective early against Florida State. Watson came in the game and has moved the Tigers up and down the field as Clemson put 10 points on the board and lead 10 to 3 over the Noles.

ESPN's Paul Finebaum calls Jameis Winston "A Trainwreck and Poor Character Kid". Jameis Winston's off the field transgressions have been noted, but to basically state that the he's basically a loser as if he has no skeletons in his closet. Finebaum is a joke.
Despite the fact that he looks like Skeletor from my favorite childhood cartoon "He-Man".
Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has been suspended for the 1st half of Saturday's game against Clemson. Winston was was seen shouting obscene sexual language on campus Tuesday.
Coach Jimbo Fisher "You can't make certain statements that are derogatory or inflammatory to any person, race or gender. You have to understand that. You have to be very intelligent about what you say, because it matters."
Sophomore Sean Maguire will start the game for the No. 1 Ranked Seminoles. Maguire has seen time on the field to close out some games. He has completed 16 of 26 passes.
Florida State host Clemson at 8 p.m. ET Saturday on ABC
Boston College quarterback Tyler Murphy led the Eagles to a 37-31 victory over No. 9 Southern California on Saturday night. The Eagles had not beaten a team ranked in the top-10 in over a decade. This was only the sixth time in school history that this has been done.
No. 9 USC
No. 4 Notre Dame
No. 8 Notre Dame
No. 7 Texas
No. 9 Syracuse
No. 10 Holy Cross

Murphy rushed for 191 yards, breaking free for a 66-yard touchdown with 3:30 to play to help seal the victory over a USC team that was itself coming off a good win. The Trojans (2-1) had never lost to BC, but they certainly realize now that they do play football in Chestnut Hill.
As a sports blogger sometimes just wishfull thinking; you come up with scenarios that you know don't make any sense but, nevertheless you think about them anyway.
While watching the Hall of Fame Game this weekend -- one of my favorite college players Sammy Watkins was dawning a Buffalo Bills uniform which I thought he looked terrible in because I am not a Bills fan.
Immediately I was contemplating rules changes where a college player could test the waters of the NFL pre-season and opt-out to complete collegiate eligibility.
Now again, given NFL and NCAA rules this is never going to happen.
The Tigers had its second day of practice on Saturday evening as it prepares for the 2014 season. Head coach Dabo Swinney said he was pleased with the team through two workouts in shorts and helmets, but the weather has had an effect on the practices in a positive and a negative way.
Coach Swinney talked about his quarterbacks after practice, in particular their physical conditioning.
"Cole has fueled his body the right way. He has bought into getting the proper nutrition. So has Deshaun Watson. He came here in January at 184 pounds. He has done what he has needed to do and is now 204. He will leave here at 220. With both players, they have put on the right kind of weight.
The Tigers used a drone during the second half of practice during some drills. The device films the plays from just above the players from behind the offense and gives the coaches a different perspective when watching practice. The drone is operated by defensive player development coach Rhett Brooks, the son of defensive line coach Dan Brooks.
Defending National Champion Florida State is predicted to win the ACC Atlantic Division Championship. Considering that the reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston is returning to lead the Seminoles and drive a machine that’s loaded with bells and whistles, this is a no brainer.
What will make the Atlantic Division interesting is the Clemson Tigers – we all knew that Tahj Boyd had to leave someday, but how do you replace the All-Time ACC Passing Leader. Cole Stoudt who is the predicted starter is no rookie, but without the best wide receiver in college football Sammy Watkins, he won’t be driving the Rolls Royce that Mr. Boyd was piloting. Predicted to be second to Florida State, it won’t be an easy road.
The newcomer to league; the Louisville Cardinals – who welcome back shamed head coach Bobby Petrino will bring excitement to the league. Petrino’s off the field antics that got him fired from Arkansas may be a welcomed addition, considering the Rick Petino sex extortion fiasco that flew seemingly under the radar. But, Petrino offenses put up tremendous numbers wherever he’s been and he’s not arriving to Louisville to a kitchen full of empty cupboards.
As for the rest of the teams in the division they’ll just get a mention in the rating as to not inflate this post.
Duke beat Virginia Tech 66-48 as Rodney Hood dropped 21 points as No. 6 Duke seems to be getting stronger moving toward the ACC Tournament.
Rasheed Sulaimon added 15 points for the Blue Devils (23-6, 12-4 ACC). The Blue Devils jumped on the Hokies early and led 24-4 to start the game. The last place Hokies faught back to get the game to single digits, but Duke who looked disinterested put their foot back on the gas and finished the job.
