Florida State junior running back Dalvin Cook was named ACC Offensive Back of the Week on Monday, while redshirt freshman quarterback Deondre Francois collected ACC Rookie of the Week honors.
The duo led Florida State to a 20-19 victory at No. 10 Miami on Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium.
Cook rushed for 150 yards on 27 carries and added a 59-yard touchdown reception against his hometown Hurricanes. He finished with 209 total yards for his third consecutive game with 200+ all-purpose yards. The award marks the first ACC Player of the Week honor of the season for Cook and fifth of his career. Cook was named ACC Offensive Back of the Week twice in 2015 and collected ACC Rookie of the Week honors on two occasions in 2014. The Miami native has earned an ACC Player of the Week honor after all three wins over the Hurricanes in his career.
Francois was knocked out of the game for two series in the second quarter at Miami, but returned to lead FSU back from a 13-0 deficit by completing 10-of-11 passes for 144 yards two touchdowns in the third quarter. Overall, Francois finished 20-of-31 for 234 yards and two scores with no turnovers, while adding 21 yards on the ground. It marked his second come-from-behind victory against a ranked opponent on a road or neutral site this season, joining the 45-34 win versus No. 11 Ole Miss at the Camping World Kickoff in Orlando to open the season.
This award marks Francois’ second ACC Rookie of the Week honor and third ACC Player of the Week mention overall. He collected ACC Back of the Week and Rookie of the Week following the Ole Miss win.
