TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State football team held its first scrimmage of the spring on Monday inside Doak Campbell Stadium.
Eighth-year head coach Jimbo Fisher said he wasn’t surprised by anything he saw during what was the eighth practice of the spring.
“Typical first scrimmage of spring, one side does good, the other side does good,” Fisher said. “Nothing outstanding, not bad, just kind of ok, about where we were.
“I’ll look at the film and see, it’s hard to judge sometimes. There were some really nice plays, some good throws and catches, good pressures, good tackles. A lot of good hits on both sides of the ball.”
Fisher was complimentary of early enrollee quarterback Bailey Hockman. The left-hander should still be a high school senior, but started college in January to get jump on classes and the FSU playbook.
“Bailey (Hockman) has done a real good job, he’s going to be a really good player,” Fisher said. “I like where he is going, a lot of instincts, good arm strength, usually very accurate, does a real solid job.”
Hockman is one of seven early enrollees already practicing with the Seminoles, joining running back Cam Akers, defensive back Cyrus Fagan, defensive end Joshua Kaindoh, tight end Tre’ McKitty, defensive back Stanford Samuels III and linebacker Adonis Thomas.

The game is scheduled to kickoff at 3 p.m.

Pro Day Slated for Tuesday
Scouts from nearly every NFL team are expected to be in Tallahassee on Tuesday to watch several former Seminoles participate in Florida State’s annual Pro Day at the Albert J. Dunlap Athletic Training Facility.
Florida State all-time leading rusher Dalvin Cook, a projected first round pick, and consensus All-American defensive end DeMarcus Walker headline a group of FSU standouts who will be tested.
