TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith visited the Florida State football team on Wednesday during the Seminoles’ 13th practice of the spring.
Florida State practiced in shorts and helmets at the Albert J. Dunlap Athletic Training Facility for the second to last workout before Saturday’s annual Garnet and Gold Spring Game.
Head Coach Jimbo Fisher had Smith, an All-American and team leader on the 2013 National Championship team, speak to the team before practice.
“He loves this place, he loves what he put in, and he knows,” Fisher said. “Talked with him about talking to the guys today, and he didn’t care. He was a leader, and he didn’t care if you liked him or not, he wasn’t there to be liked. He was there to win and do the right thing, but he was always a good teammate and they loved him for it. Trying to get those guys to understand. It was great he was around today.”
Smith led FSU with 90 tackles in 2013, including 15 in the BCS Championship victory over Auburn. The Valdosta, Ga., native was a fifth round pick by the Jaguars in 2014 and has started all three years, totaling 350 tackles.
The Seminoles will hold their final spring practice on Thursday before taking of Friday.
